'Designated Survivor' actor (and Obama administration alum) Kal Penn, 'Scandal's' Bellamy Young and 'The West Wing's' Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, Dulé Hill and Janel Moloney are all confirmed to attend the Jan. 15 fundraiser.

President-elect Joe Biden's inaugural committee is turning to Hollywood to help raise funds for the event, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Virtual cast reunions quickly became a fundraising trend amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, and now Biden's Presidential Inaugural Committee is hopping on the bandwagon as well, planning an event for Friday, Jan. 15.

The fundraiser, "Conversations with Actors from The West Wing, Scandal, and Designated Survivor," will be moderated by Designated Survivor actor (and Obama administration alum) Kal Penn, with Scandal's Bellamy Young and The West Wing's Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, Dulé Hill and Janel Moloney confirmed to attend.

The Biden-Harris Inaugural Committee is asking for donations of between $25-$500, according to an invitation to the event, though any size donation will guarantee access to the streaming panel.

With the pandemic essentially nixing in-person concerts and fundraisers throughout 2020, campaigns, national and state parties turned to virtual events to raise money. And with many actors staying at home as well, virtual cast reunions, table reads and panels quickly became commonplace. The Wisconsin Democratic Party hosted a reunion of Veep (and used cast reunions to great effect throughout 2020), while the cast of Elf reunited to support the Democratic candidates in the Georgia U.S. Senate runoff elections.

Now, of course, the elections are over, but with the Biden-Harris Inaugural Committee promising "the most ambitious, innovative inauguration ever," per the invitation, the group is seeking financial support from the same grassroots backers that donated to the campaign.
