FERTILE, Minn. — Outside her home, 10-year-old Cali Campbell setup a hot cocoa stand for a couple of hours Wednesday, Jan. 13 to raise money for the Van Erem family.

Laura Van Erem, 52 and her 72-year-old mother Nancy were killed in that deadly downtown crash in Grand Forks over the weekend.

Cali goes to school with 15-year-old Molly Van Erem, who was seriously hurt has a long road to recovery.

Cali raised more than $1,200 with her chocolatey enterprise. While she does not know the Van Erems directly, she says helping is just what small communities do.

"(We) just help them get back on their feet, and that it will kind of give them a little bit of help," said Cali.
